Pomegranate
This remarkable fruit has been cultivated by ancient civilizations around the Mediterranean regions for several millennia! In fact, it is theorized that the first pomegranate trees were planted as early as 4000 B.C. Some of the earliest cultures, such as the Arabians, Egyptians, and Greeks, knew full well of the advantages of pomegranates and harvested them for everything from food and hydration to religious and mythological symbolic purpose.
Many food and dietary supplement producers are using pomegranate extract as healthy ingredients in their products. Indeed, the pomegranate is quickly finding its way into our healthy lifestyle. In fact, one pomegranate offers the body 40 percent of an adult’s daily vitamin C requirement, and the fruit is also a great source of folic acid and antioxidants. Furthermore, emerging science suggests that such antioxidants that can be found in pomegranates called polyphenols may help assist in preventing the tissue and cell damage linked to certain diseases. Pomegranates are also rich in vitamins A and E, as well as potassium and iron. As if the delicious taste of this fruit wasn't enough!
